Description:

Situated on a hill above Rabac, overlooking the Kvarner Bay, Labin is one of the most interesting towns in eastern Istria. This medieval town is now known for its vibrant cultural scene and charming stone alleys, combining a rich industrial and mining heritage with the spirit of art, freedom, and creativity. The old town of Labin resembles a labyrinth of history – a walk through its narrow streets leads you to baroque palaces, ancient city gates, churches, and small squares. Once a mining hub, today Labin is home to numerous artists’ studios, galleries, and museums. A highlight is the People’s Museum, which features a reconstructed mine shaft, offering a glimpse into the days when mining was an essential part of daily life. From the city walls, visitors can enjoy a beautiful view of the blue sea near Rabac, which is only a few minutes away by car. Nature lovers can also reach the coast via the Sentona Trail – an approximately 3,5 km long walking path through the forest that connects the old town of Labin with the sea. The trail leads downhill to Rabac, while the return requires a gentle climb back up to Labin. Rabac, located at the foot of Labin and about 5 kilometres away, is known for its well-maintained pebble beaches and scenic seaside promenade.
