Omiš - Central Dalmatia
Omiš is a small Dalmatian town located at the mouth of the Cetina River, where it flows into the Adriatic Sea, between Split and Makarska, nestled between steep cliffs and the sea. On the landward side, the town is surrounded by the impressive hills of the Mosor and Omiška Dinara ranges, while to the south it opens towards the sea, giving Omiš a truly special atmosphere. The town's history is marked by its pirate past. In the Middle Ages, the pirates of Omiš ruled this part of the Adriatic and struck fear into passing merchant ships. Today, only traces of that turbulent past remain in the stone and in legends, but the town still carries a unique spirit. The old town has preserved its narrow stone streets, small squares and ancient walls, and above it rises the Mirabela Fortress (also known as Peovica), offering a panoramic view of the Cetina estuary and the surrounding area. The Cetina River is deeply woven into the life of Omiš. In addition to shaping the landscape, it offers a variety of outdoor activities, from rafting and kayaking to ziplining over the canyon. Along the river you'll find walking trails, hiking paths and hidden restaurants serving traditional local food. For nature lovers and adventure seekers, Omiš and its surroundings are a true discovery. The town beach is located right by the sea and, thanks to its fine sand and shallow waters, is especially popular with families with children. Nearby are many other beaches and coves, accessible on foot, by bike or by boat. Omiš is not a large town, but that is precisely where its charm lies. It is big enough to offer everything you need, yet small and peaceful enough to provide real relaxation. During the summer months, many cultural events take place here, the most famous being the Festival of Dalmatian Klapa, which brings together the best vocal groups from all over Croatia. Whether you're looking for cultural and historical attractions, active holidays in nature, or a peaceful summer escape by the sea, Omiš offers it all in the warm and welcoming atmosphere of a true Dalmatian town.Price for all persons
